Evaluation: Question 5

How did you attract your audience?

We handed out questionnaires prior to filming which had our storyline on, this confirmed our previous thoughts that our target audience would be teens, young adults and some middle aged adults.

To appeal to this target audience, we decided that the best way to do this would be by making the characters relatable, therefore we had young characters.

Since our film is an independent film (mainly only a British audience will be able to exhibit), it's targeted at a British audience. This meant that we incorporated common British qualities in it. For example, Twist had very negative views of the situation and wasn't trying to make the best of a bad situation, this incorporated pessimism into our film. Another British quality we tried to incorporate into our film was British humour, for example, Wildcard was quite an unpredictable character with a humorous side. However this wasn't seen much in the first two minutes but if the film were to continue, then Wildcard's humorous personality would of been seen a lot more. We filmed in a rural area which the UK is well known for its countryside. Having British qualities in our film also meant that it would be more relatable to our audience.

I think we were successful on attracting our audience, improvements we got from our audience feedback said to "improve on the audio" and to "give the characters interesting back stories". The audio could be improved by the actors talking louder when facing away from the camera.

Our feedback was mainly positive comments, most saying that its "intriguing" and "interesting". We then asked our audience if they would go and see the full film which majority said yes.
